The first hour of the proceedings of the Lok Sabha has been assigned to the members for asking questions. Each Lok Sabha member can submit 10 questions including starred (written) and unstarred (oral) questions for each day proceedings, however, according to the rules of Parliament, a maximum of 5 questions from each member is selected. All selected questions might be bifurcated upto 250 questions each day, in which 20 questions are to be asked orally which are selected by Lok Sabha secretariat on lottery basis and 230 questions are answered in written. And if in case, 20 questions cannot be asked in the House, they are included in the category of written questions. (i.e; if a particular subject is questioned by more than one member then the parliamentary office makes a single question out of it, and records it in the name of all the members who have questioned.)The ratings and ranking of MPs for asking questions is based on their choice of 5 questions in a day.In this category Ministers, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of Opposition are not included, so we have kept all these honorable members out of rating and ranking of questions performance.
